Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complicated but favored poker variations. It is a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once invisible variation, has increased in acceptance so quickly.

Omaha 8 or better starts exactly like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to every player. A sequence of wagering ensues in which players can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is known as the flop. One more sequence of betting ensues. After all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, another card is revealed on the turn. a further round of wagering happens and then the river card is revealed. The entrants must attempt to make the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where some players can get baffled. Unlike Texas Holdem, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player must utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot might be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is just how it sounds. It is the best hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical concept in nearly all poker games.

The low hand is more complicated, but really free’s up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the worst hand that could be made, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and below. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there’s no low hand presented, the high hand takes the whole pot.

It may seem complex at first, after a few rounds you will be agile enough to get the base nuances of the game with ease. Since you have people betting for the low and betting for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha hi lo provides an overwhelming range of betting choices and because you have many players battling for the high hand, and many trying for the low hand.
